Conference workshops

Conference workshop engagement, one attendee at a time.

A conference breakout is a room full of strangers with a short time slot and very different reasons for being there. LiveSlide.Pro lets each attendee tell you why they came, adds a slide for each of them to a live deck that presents in your browser, and sends everyone home with a 7-day follow-up at their own link.

What you need: a laptop with a web browser. Attendees need only a phone camera.

Why breakouts are hard to pitch

At a conference you rarely know who will walk in. The session description attracts beginners and experts, practitioners and managers, and you have no time for a survey. Speakers usually aim for the middle and hope.

With LiveSlide.Pro, the first few minutes tell you exactly who is in the room. You can name the concerns you see on screen, adjust your emphasis, and make sure each attendee leaves with something aimed at them.

An example session

Illustrative example · fictional people

“Practical Data Storytelling” · 45-minute breakout · 60 attendees

  1. Doors open, −5:00. The QR code is on screen as people find seats. A nonprofit analyst writes “Make board reports people actually read.” A product manager writes “Present experiment results without jargon.”
  2. Welcome, 0:00. You click Start presenting as you introduce yourself. The deck opens on the projector and fills in live.
  3. Room check, 0:05. From the roster, you spotlight a few people whose slides capture the room: board reporting, product experiments, and public-sector dashboards.
  4. Core talk, 0:10. You teach your three storytelling moves, choosing examples from the themes you just saw.
  5. Close, 0:40. You click Send follow-ups & close session. Attendees get their follow-up link on the spot, with prompts and a 7-day plan, so the session stays with them after the conference.

How it works in 3 steps

  1. Prepare before you travel

Sign in and run Practice with 3 sample people from your Sessions page so the flow feels familiar. Then create the real session with its title.

  2. Open the projector screen as people arrive

Click Open the projector screen. Attendees scan, share a name and a goal, and the live count shows how many have joined.

  3. Present, then follow up

Click Start presenting, and the deck fills in live in your browser. A USB clicker works as usual. Close with Send follow-ups & close session so everyone gets their 7-day plan.

What speakers and organizers get

Attention in the first five minutes. Names from the room on screen give people a reason to look up.

A takeaway that outlasts the conference. Slides from a breakout are easy to forget. A personal 7-day plan with prompts gives each attendee a reason to act on what they heard.

Honest audience insight. The goals people typed tell you, and the organizers, what this audience came for. That is useful for your next proposal and for the next program.

Built for big rooms. With a large audience, the roster view shows every name and lets you spotlight one person at a time.

Take the deck with you. Download PowerPoint or copy the deck to Google Slides to add your own slides around the personal ones or reuse them in your talk.

Privacy answers for event organizers

  • Consent on the form: attendees agree before submitting, and the wording can be edited for your event.
  • Email is optional: attendees can get their follow-up by link alone.
  • Short retention: submissions are anonymized 30 days after the session ends by default.
  • No raw IPs: only a one-way hash is stored.
  • Full detail: see the privacy policy and trust center.

Questions from conference speakers

How big a room can I run?

Each plan sets a participants-per-session limit: 100 on Founding Beta, 100 on Pro Speaker, 300 on Trainer Team. Event & Enterprise supports larger rooms with custom limits. See plan limits.

What if the conference Wi-Fi is overloaded?

Attendees can join on mobile data, since the form is a single small web page. Submissions are saved on our servers as they arrive, and the projector screen keeps retrying if your laptop drops its connection. Once the deck is up, Save offline copy keeps a single HTML file of it on your laptop. Sessions set to build a Google Slides file keep a backup HTML deck ready to screen-share.

I only have 45 minutes. Is there time?

Yes. Put the QR code up while people find seats, and click Start presenting during your introduction. Showing a few representative slides takes five minutes, and the follow-ups go out as you close.

Can a conference run this across many sessions?

Event & Enterprise includes branded event portals, white-glove onboarding, and custom Google Slides templates for a whole program. Talk to us about your event.

What do attendees have to share?

A first name or nickname and what they want to get out of the session, plus consent. Everything else, including email, is optional. Submissions are anonymized 30 days after the session by default.
